Right around the corner from the Baltimore Inner Harbor is a graveyard – but it's not on land. Unused and unwanted vessels from World War I and beyond were left to quietly decompose in the brackish waters of Curtis Creek. We walked with Dr. Susan Langley of the Maryland Historical Trust as she documented the ships and discussed their future.
Dear Maryland Historical Trust
Greeting. My name is the Rev. K. Robert Schmitt and I am pastor of St. Paul’s Lutheran in Curtis Bay. This Past week my oldest member 99 year Old Marie Butner passed away and one of her ‘treasured’ items which I now posses is the ‘memorial box’ from the dedication of the USS Windego dedicated by her and her mother at the Curtis Bay shipyard on October 28, 1944. I would like to know first if you wish the object and second if you do how can I get this to you.
