Everything You Need to Know About Instagram Reels
As of this summer, it seems that Instagram has done away with longer form video in favor of Reels. Instagram Reels are short-form, vertical videos that can be up to 90 seconds long. Much like Instagram Stories, Instagram Reels are designed to be viewed vertically, full-screen, and on mobile. One of the main discovery features of Instagram is the Explore page, where random users can find your content from all around the world.
In order to increase your chances of being found on the Explore page, it's recommended that you post from a public account, post a Reel less than 30 seconds long, and post originally inside Instagram rather than crossposting. Reels are currently favored by the Instagram algorithm, which means they're incredibly important marketing tools right now.
When it comes to filming vertical video, we encourage our clients to film and edit directly on their mobile device, with an aspect ratio of 9:16, and a size of 1080 pixels x 1920. The bottom fifth of a Reel is where the video caption and additional information is displayed, so making sure your content is centered in the screen is key. We can also film and edit your video professionally in a way that still engages your audience and doesn't seem overly polished or fake.
