12 Hour Comic: The Garden of Earthly Delights
A little while back my friend threw a drawing party. It was going to be a 24-hour comic, like Scott McCloud gets excited about, but nobody really felt like staying up all night, so we cut it down to 12. As a prompt, we took this Hieronymus Bosch painting , divided it up into a grid, and rolled dice to see who got each little square.
I got the very top right corner:
I tried out a couple ideas that didn't feel right, and about an hour in I resorted to just copying out a couple scenes from the painting:
By the end of the first page, I found a little character I liked, and a story started coming out:
